Based on the results of the TREND Project and the input of the CREAM stakeholders, three market segments have been identified in the conception phase of CREAM as of particularly high potential. Research Activity 7 is dedicated to the elaboration of concepts for capturing modal shift potentials of the transport market where up to now the Intermodal Transport was not capable to gain significant market shares from the road. In order to respond to this market demand three technology driven business cases will be developed within RA 7:

• RA 7.1 - Temperature controlled cargo logistics (TCC)
• RA 7.2 - Semi-trailers in unaccompanied intermodal transport chains
• RA 7.3 - Customised semi-trailer for unaccompanied intermodal transport of glass

The results of the related resaerch activities are compiled in the deliverables DR 7.1, DR 7.2 and DR 7.3, which are all confidential.

DR 7.1 has been submitted to the European Commission in February 2010. Related demonstration activity has already started in April 2008 in parallel to the research work.
